Let this be a balm

Let this be a balm

To the barminess

That so often besets us,

Because of our fear

And our need to be seen,

Even when we’re struggling

And strung out

And becoming strangers

To ourselves.

The antidote is love.

Permission to be.

To rest in the wonder

Of our true identity.

I wrote this poem during an impromptu lull in one of our team meetings. During a discussion about Rewilding and what that process means to us as church and the body of Christ. Based on this book. Which is worth a read.

I thought I was pretty up on this whole Rewilding thing before I read it. Having been purposefully living out some of its principles since before the pandemic. Spiritually and lifestyle-wise. So it was a reluctant read at first. But as I got into it, it was both enlightening and confirming. A relief of a read.

I'll leave this here for now but it'll be interesting to hear what others have made of it? And swap notes at some point.
